BUTTERMILK BROWNIES image

BROWNIES:
1/2 c. butter
1 c. water
1/4 c. cocoa
1/2 c. oil
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
ICING:
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. cocoa
1/3 c. buttermilk
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Bring to boil butter, water, cocoa and oil. Mix sugar, flour, salt, soda, vanilla, buttermilk and eggs. Pour cocoa mixture over and beat with mixer. Pour into 15x10 inch pan and bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Icing: Boil together butter, cocoa and buttermilk then add powdered sugar and vanilla. Spread over brownies as soon as they are from the oven and sprinkle with walnuts. Make frosting about 5 minutes before brownies are done.
