- 1. Prepare cake mix or your favorite cake recipe according to box mix or recipe directions. Bake in 2 round cake pans according to box mix or recipe directions. When finished baking, remove and cool according to box mix or recipe directions.
- 2. When cake is completely cooled, it's time to assemble cake. 1 round cake will become the bunny's head. The second round cake will become the bunny's ears and his bow tie. Select a long plate or cookie sheet to assemble your cake on. I used a sheet pan. Place cake being used for the head in the middle of the serving plate, leaving enough room for the ears. With the second round cake in front of you, cut an almond shape on one third and down the length of the cake on the left hand side. This will form the left ear of the bunny. Now do the same thing on the right hand side of the cake. This will form the right ear of the bunny. You should now have the bow tie remaining in the center. Place the ears on the top of the round cake in the appropriate position for the ears. You may have to cut the bottom of the ears at an angle to fit onto the round cake. It should be just a small triangle piece being removed. Now place the remaining bow tie shape, centered on the bottom of the round head shape.
- 3. Ice entire cake with favorite icing recipe or favorite store bought icing. Decorate with favorite candies, icings and gels.
- 4. Bunny Cake 1: Pink on Ears: used pink icing and decorated with pink sprinkles. Outlined with pink gel (Betty Crocker) Eyeballs: white Malted Milk Robins Eggs, blue part of eye, large dot candies (found at dollar tree) attached to malted milk candy with a dab of white icing. Nose: large pink dot candy. Whiskers, mouth outline and eye outline: black gel. between the mouth outline there is a small pink tounge, we used a small pink egg shaped sprinkle. Bow Tie: Small flower shaped marshmallows (found at dollar tree) cut in half, (because their profile was too high, as they were), large dot candies and filled in with small bunny and egg shaped sprinkles (found at Aldi) Bunny Cake 2: I made this cake several years ago. Ears: Pink part, tinted white icing pink. Eyes: Pink part, pink gum ball. Eyes, Nose and Whiskers: Black part, black Twizzlers, split. Teeth and Carrot on bow tie: Candy Bunny kit I found at Walgreens in the candy section at Easter time. Bow Tie: purple icing-white icing tinted purple, tie decorated with jelly beans.
