BROWN RICE MILANESE image

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 tbl butter
2 chopped shallots
1 minced garlic clove
3 tbl dried chives
1/2 tsp dried dillweed
1 cup short-grain brown rice
2 cups cold water
1 cup freshly grated Romano cheese

Steps:

  • Melt butter in large skillet or shallow heatproof casserole over medium heat. Add shallot and garlic and saute until tender. Add chives and dill and saute an additional 1-2 minutes. Stir in rice and saute until it begins to crackle. Add water and bring to boil. Reduce heat to low, covre and simmer 45 minutes (do not remove cover during cooking time). Remove from heat and add cheese, tossing lightly until cheese is melted.
