Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream image

One of the ladies from church made this for a luncheon. I asked for the recipe from the first fantastic bite!

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 tablespoon(s) olive oil
1 pound(s) sweet or hot italian sausage, remove casings
1/2 teaspoon(s) red pepper flakes
1/2 cup(s) diced onion
3 clove(s) garlic, pressed
28 ounce(s) can (drained) diced tomatoes
1 1/2 cup(s) whipping cream or 1/2 and 1/2
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
12 ounce(s) bow-tie pasta, cooked and drained
3 tablespoon(s) minced fresh basil (can omit if desired)
- parmesan cheese to taste

Steps:

  • Heat oil in large skillet. Add: sausage and red pepper flakes, stirring until sausage is brown.
  • Add: onion and garlic. Cook until onion is tender.
  • Add: tomatoes, cream and salt. Simmer until it thickens slightly.
  • Add: pasta to sauce and cook until heated through.
  • Serve sprinkled with basil and parmesan cheese.
  • Note at bottom of recipe: This dish has an elegant presentation and I like to serve it to guests. Children love it too.
