"BLT" SALAD

This salad is a favorite at The Pink House Restaurant in Savannah. Very simple and delicious.

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 fried green tomatoes
2 slice applewood smoked backon
mixed field greens
buttermilk thyme dressing (2 oz) recipe follows
1 c buttermilk
1 c mayonnaise
4 oz sour cream
1/4 tsp fresh thyme
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 c red wine vinegar
1 clove chopped garlic
1/2 tsp honey
salt to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Soak tomatoes in buttermilk, coat in flour mixture (1/2 flour, 1/2 cornmeal, salt and pepper)fry to a golden brown. Cook bacon in brown sugar, fold into a circle.
  • 2. Mix all ingredients for Buttermilk Thyme Dressing
  • 3. Mix greens in dressing. Stack salad by layering greens with tomato and bacon. Garnish last tomato with a small amount of dressing, chopped red pepper and green onion.
