Bloomin' Onion Bread image

This naughty Bloomin' Onion Bread has cheese stuffed in every crack & is cut just like the Bloomin' Onion from Outback. This is really enough to feed a small army. It's a fun way to serve bread because everyone can just pull off a piece of cheesy onion bread. This would be a great appetizer or bread for a meal.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup(s) butter, melted
3 tablespoon(s) lemon juice
2 tablespoon(s) dijon mustard
1 tablespoon(s) garlic powder
1 teaspoon(s) onion powder
1/2 teaspoon(s) celery salt
2 teaspoon(s) poppy seeds
1/2 cup(s) green onions (both greens & whites), finely diced
16 ounce(s) monterey jack cheese, thinly sliced
1 loaf - sourdough bread, unsliced

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the first 8 ingredients; set aside.
  • Cut the bread lengthwise & widthwise without cutting through the bottom crust. This can be a little tricky going the second way but the bread is very forgiving. NOTE: Through experience....it'll be easier to cut lengthwise first, then width. Unfortunately I did it the other way & it was a little hard to do.
  • Place on a foil lined baking sheet. Insert cheese slices between cuts.
  • Drizzle butter mixture over bread.
  • Tent in foil (so that it is not touching the cheese - you know what will happen); place on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 15 minutes. Unwrap the bread & bake 10 more minutes, or until cheese is melted.
