Blackberry Sauce image

I adopted this orphaned recipe and then adapted it to use on some pork steaks. Yummy!

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb blackberries
1 c sugar
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp soy sauce, low sodium
1/2 c red wine vinegar
1/2 small onion, chopped

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter. Add onoins and cook until softened. Add sugar, lemon juice and berries and simmer until they release their juices.
  • 2. Add red wine vinegar and soy sauce. Simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  • 3. Remove from the heat, place in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. Pass through a strainer if seeds are not desired.
  • 4. Can be frozen for up to 1 year and makes 1 cup--serve this with duck, pork, chicken.
