Blackberry-Honey Ribs image

Yum! These are really good ribs. We baked them in the oven and they came out delicious. I bet they'd be even better on the grill. The blackberry honey sauce is a great complement to the baby back ribs. It's sweet, just a little tangy and forms a slight crust under the broiler. Even the pickiest of rib eaters will go crazy for...

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 racks baby back ribs (about 4 lbs)
salt & pepper
liquid smoke
1-1/2 c blackberries
2 clove garlic, peeled
1/4 c ketchup
1-1/2 Tbsp honey
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
1 tsp hot sauce

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  • 2. Rub ribs with a few drops of liquid smoke and season with salt and pepper. Put meaty side up on a foil-lined baking sheet; bake for about 45 minutes.
  • 3. Put blackberries, garlic, ketchup, honey, vinegar, hot sauce, and 1/2 tsp salt into a blender and puree for about 30 seconds. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve.
  • 4. Change oven to broil. Brush ribs with sauce and broil until thick glaze forms, about 5 minutes. Cut between bones into individual ribs.
  • 5. To cook on a charcoal grill: omit the liquid smoke; cook until ribs are just done; then brush ribs with sauce and cook until glaze forms.
