Black Pepper Cream Gravy image

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 Tbsp butter or bacon fat
2 Tbsp flour
2 c milk
2 Tbsp heavy cream
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp black peppercorns, freshly cracked

Steps:

  • 1. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter/bacon fat.
  • 2. Whisk in the flour.
  • 3. Saute the flour until lightly browned.
  • 4. Remove pan from the heat.
  • 5. Pour the milk into the pan in a steady stream, whisking constantly.
  • 6. Return pan to the heat.
  • 7. Whisk until the gravy thickens.
  • 8. Whisk in the cream, salt and pepper.
  • 9. Keep warm until needed.
