Time 1h30m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 1/2 Tbsp canola oil
2 Tbsp minced garlic
1 large yellow onion
2 oz beer or Jack Daniels whiskey
1 lb ground turkey
1 pkg "Hot" chili seasoning (I prefer McCormick's)
1 can tomatoes and green chilies (Ro*Tel) (and again, I prefer "hot")
1 can (14 oz.) tomato sauce
1 can dark red kidney beans
Cayenne pepper (to taste)
Louisiana hot sauce (to taste)
2 Tbsp chili powder (to taste)

Steps:

  • In a 5 qt. pot, heat canola oil while chopping onion. When oil is hot (not burnt) add garlic and onion and caramelize.
  • Once onion and garlic are caramelized, pour in beer or whiskey (both have unique flavors, very different, but both very good) and cook for 3-5 more minutes.
  • Add ground turkey and brown. Add chili seasoning and mix. Add tomatoes and green chilies, tomato sauce, and kidney beans and simmer. Add cayenne pepper, hot sauce, and chili powder to taste.
  • Cover pot, and simmer for 1 hour, stirring intermittently.
