BEER CAKE WITH TOPPING image

Yield 6- 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

one pkg chocolate cake mix
one bottle of a good beer-enough to substitute for water in cake mix
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 pint sour cream
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup seedless light color raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
4 squares bitter chocolate

Steps:

  • Mix cake using beer instead of water and bake as usual. Bake in 9 x 13 pan, or in 8 inch rounds. Cool. Boil the eggs, sour cream and sugar together until thick. Stir constantly as can burn. Add in raisins and stir. Cool and add nuts. Spread on cooled cake. Melt chocolate and add one teaspoon butter. Stir. Spread over filling. Delicious at room temp but better if refrigerated.
