Beef and Cabbage Joes image

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb ground beef
1/2 c chopped onion
1/2 c thinly sliced celery
2 c cabbage, shredded
1/4 c green pepper, chopped
3/4 c ketchup
1/4 c water
1/4 tsp salt
1 Tbsp prepared mustard
8 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • 1. Hamburger buns should be split and toasted.
  • 2. Cook and stir the meat, onion and celery in a large skillet until the meat is brown.
  • 3. Drain off the excess fat.
  • 4. Stir in the cabbage, green pepper, ketchup, water, salt and mustard and heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.
  • 5. Reduce the heat and cover.
  • 6. Simmer until the vegetables are tender, about 25 minutes.
  • 7. Spoon the mixture onto the bottom halves of the buns and top with the remaining halves.
