BBQ BAKED BEANS--MY WAY image

This is a great dish to eat with grilled food, BBQ, or sandwiches. I think it would go well with a holiday baked ham too! This dish smelled soooo good while it was cooking that my family lined up at the stove with forks when I pulled it out! They literally ate half of the dish before I put the rest of dinner on the table. I did add the jalapeno (seeded and diced). The cooking process mellowed the jalapenos and gave the dish a perfect kick of spice.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pound(s) bacon
1 - sweet onion--diced
1-2 - green pepper--diced
6 can(s) pork n beans
3/4 cup(s) bbq sauce
1/2 cup(s) brown sugar
1/4 cup(s) cider vinegar
2 tablespoon(s) mustard (dijon is good)

Steps:

  • Cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces (I use a pair of scissors) Actually, I just cut them in half.
  • Chop onion and green pepper .. place in bottom of baking pan. *This is the time to add a fresh jalapeno too if suites your taste. Top with bacon half the bacon. Bake at 500 degrees till bacon is cooked
  • Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover the top with remaining bacon.
  • Bake at 325 degrees until beans are bubbly and sauce is syrup-like.. about 2 hours. Let stand to thicken slightly before serving.
