My Grandmother always said when gnats are flying the bananas are ready. To this day, I only use bananas that have black spots as that's when the flavor is fullest.

Steps:
- 1. Combine baking soda, baking powder, salt, and flour, set aside
- 2. Cream shortening and sugar
- 3. Add eggs and vanilla, mix
- 4. Mix in dry ingredients
- 5. Add bananas, water, chopped nuts, mix (just enough to mix all ingredients together)
- 6. Pour into loaf pan sprayed with Pam and Bake @ 350 degrees for 50 minutes (or test by sticking a butter knife in middle and pull out..if knife is clear..it's done)
- 7. Using a butter knife, go along edges for easy removal. Place on a wire rack to cool...Enjoy!!
