Baked Oatmeal image

This is very good and so easy to do. My family loves it. My favorite way to serve it is with apples sauteed in butter and a bit of brown sugar wiith a touch of ginger and cinnamon.

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 c old fashioned oats (not instant)
1 c brown sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
2 eggs
1 c milk or half and half
1/2 c melted butter

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl, combine the oats, 3/4 cup brown sugar, baking powder, salt and cinamon. Stir together and set aside.
  • 2. In another bowl beat eggs, milk and butter then stir this into the oats and blend well.
  • 3. Spoon into buttered 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Sprinkle the last 1/4 cup sugar over the top and return to oven till sugar melts. Turn on broiler and broil 2-3 minutes.
  • 4. Serve with additional milk and fruit as desired. You can also bake fruit and nuts into this also if you prefer.
