Awesome Sloppy Joes image

This is a recipe I came up with while trying to come up with a tastier version of a sloppy joe. My kids love them but I just don't like the Manwich you buy that much. This is excellent. I've even used this as chili for hot dogs and for chili burgers. Hope you enjoy.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 1/4 lb ground beef
1/4 c light brown sugar
1 Tbsp mccormick montreal steak seasoning
1 medium onion, chopped
1 small red bell pepper, chopped
1 Tbsp red wine vinegar
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 jar(s) tomato and basil pasta sauce (i use classico)
2 Tbsp tomato paste

Steps:

  • 1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil and meat to the the pan. Spread meat around to break it up.
  • 2. Combine the brown sugar and steak seasoning in a small bowl and then add the sugar and spice mixture to the pan and combine with meat.
  • 3. When the meat has browned, add the chopped onion and red peppers to the pan. Reduce heat to medium and add the red wine vinegar and worcestershire sauce.
  • 4. Cook for 5 minutes then add the pasta sauce and tomato paste to the pan. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to simmer and cook mixture 5-10 minutes longer. Serve on toasted buns and enjoy. :)
