Asparagus Ham Casserole image

Can we say "Comfort Food". This is an excellent example of it and you really just don't want to stop eating it.

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 cup(s) rice, cooked
1 pound(s) asparagus, sliced
2 tablespoon(s) butter
2 tablespoon(s) flour
1 cup(s) evaporated milk
1 cup(s) water
- salt and pepper to taste
1/2 teaspoon(s) worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 cup(s) cheddar cheese, shredded
2 cup(s) ham, cubed
1/4 cup(s) almonds, slivered

Steps:

  • Par-cook asparagus until near tender
  • Place cooked rice in the bottom of a well greased 10x6 baking dish. Top with the asparagus.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan, blend in flour. Add evaporated milk and water and cook until thickened. Turn off heat.
  • Add salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Add cheese and ham. Pour over rice mixture. Sprinkle with almonds.
  • Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.
