Number Of Ingredients 5

2 tablespoon(s) chinese five spice powder
2 tablespoon(s) light brown sugar
1 tablespoon(s) kosher salt or 2 teaspoons table salt
3-4 pound(s) spare ribs or baby back ribs
1/2 cup(s) filtered water

Steps:

  • Gather your ingredients.
  • Mix the spices together in a small bowl.
  • Use your fingers to break up the brown sugar... A chef's best tools are his/her hands.
  • Remove the silver skin, by cutting under it, and then using a paper towel to grab and pull it off the ribs.
  • Cut the ribs into sections that will fit into your slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle the spices onto the ribs and rub.
  • Add the water to the slow cooker.
  • Add the ribs.
  • Cook on low for about 6 hours.
  • Chef's Tip: At the end of the 6 hours, the rib meat should be tender and separate easily from the bone.
  • Slice the ribs into individual pieces, and add some sauce.
  • Serve while still warm. Enjoy.
  • Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
