Arroz con Gandules Recipe - (3.8/5) image

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 1/2 cups long grain white rice
4 cups water
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup Sofrito
16 oz. can green pigeon peas, drained
8 oz. tomato sauce
1 envelope Sazon with achiote
1 teaspoon ground oregano
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon salt

Steps:

  • 1. In a large pot, heat the oil on medium heat and add the Sofrito. Stir fry for 1 minute. 2. Add the water, peas, tomato sauce, Sazon, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil. 3. Stir in rice and bring to a boil again. Then lower heat to low-medium and stir and cover. 4. Let cook for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes until the rice is tender.
