Apple Squares image

Cinnamon-sprinkled apples get a yummy cream cheese cookie base and a layer of coconut flakes and walnuts in these potluck-perfect dessert squares.

4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
6 Tbsp. butter, softened
1 cup sugar, divided
2 tsp. vanilla, divided
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, thinly sliced
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 egg
1/3 cup canned evaporated milk
1-1/3 cups BAKER'S ANGEL FLAKE Coconut
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Beat cream cheese, butter, 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla in large bowl with mixer until blended. Add flour and baking soda; mix well. Spread onto bottom of 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray. Top with apples; sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Whisk egg, milk and remaining vanilla in medium bowl until blended. Add coconut, nuts and remaining sugar; mix well. Spread over apples.
  • Bake 35 min. or until golden brown. Cool completely. Serve topped with COOL WHIP.
