Apple Pudding Cake with Caramel Sauce image

This is a recipe I got from church cookbook I got as a gift back in 1977. It is by far my favorite cookbook. This is just a wonderful festive Fall time dessert...the caramel sauce that you serve with the cake is outstanding.

APPLE PUDDING CAKE
2 cup(s) sugar
1/2 cup(s) butter
2 - eggs, well beaten
4 cup(s) finley diced raw apples
2 cup(s) flour
1 teaspoon(s) nutmeg
1 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
CARAMEL SAUCE
1/2 cup(s) brown sugar
1/2 cup(s) sugar
1 tablespoon(s) flour
1/2 cup(s) cream or half & half
1/2 cup(s) butter
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla

Steps:

  • Apple Pudding Cake: cream butter and sugar; add eggs, apples. Add dry ingredients. Bake in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve with caramel sauce below.
  • Caramel Sauce: Mix sugars and flour together in a saucepan. Add cream, butter and vanilla. Bring to a low Boil, and boil 2 minutes. Serve warm over Apple pudding cake.
  • The sauce keeps well..you can refrigerate, and warm sauce as needed.
