Apple Crisp with Oats image

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 pounds Granny Smith apples (5-7)
1/2 cup white sugar
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup oats
1 cup butter - softened
2 pints vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 F (175 degree C).
  • Peel, core, and slice apples.
  • In a large size bowl, toss apples with white sugar, 1 tbsp. flour, cinnamon, lemon juice, and water
  • Spread apples evenly into a buttered baking pan/dish.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together remaining flour, brown sugar, oats, and butter. Mix butter in with fingers to crumbly texture.
  • Spoon mixture evenly over apples.
  • Bake in preheated oven for about 45 minutes (apple mixture will bubble and topping will be golden brown).
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
