Apple Conserve image

Yield 3 cups

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/2 pounds apples, peeled and sliced
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup lemon, sliced
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (fresh)
ground cloves
1 cup chopped nuts
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Combine apples, raisins, lemons, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, pinch of cloves, and 1 cup water in large saucepan. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in nuts. Serve warm or cold. Author's note: May also add fresh sliced and peeled pears.
