APPLE CAKE WITH BUTTER SAUCE image

2 c. Sugar
1/2 c. butter - softened
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 t. ground cinnamon
1 t. ground nutmeg
1 t. salt
4 cups finely chopped pared apples
1 c. chopped nuts
BUTTER SAUCE -- COMBINE
1 C. SUGAR
1/4 C. HALF AND HALF
1/2 CUP BUTTER
HEAT OVER LOW HEAT, STIRRING CONSTANTLY, UNTIL SUGAR DISSOLVES. REMOVE FROM HEAT AND ADD - 1 TSP VANILLA. SERVE WARM

Steps:

  • Cream together sugar and butter. Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy sift together dry ingredients. By hand, stir in Dry ingredients. Fold in apples and nuts. Place in greased 13x9x2 baking pan. (I use a bundt pan) Bake in 350 oven 15 min. Reduce heat to 300 and bake 45 min. Serve warm or cold w/ butter sauce --
