Anise Almond Loaf (Bread Machine) image

I much prefer to use my machine to do the mixing and kneading and then remove the dough to finish in the oven. This is a very tasty loaf and makes lovely toast.

Number Of Ingredients 9

3/4 cup(s) water (70 to 80 degrees f)
1 - or 1⁄4 cup Egg Beaters egg substitute
1/4 cup(s) butter or 1?4 cup margarine, softened
1/4 cup(s) sugar or 1?4 cup splenda sugar substitute
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
3 cup(s) bread flour
1 teaspoon(s) anise seed
2 teaspoon(s) active dry yeast
1/2 cup(s) almonds, chopped small

Steps:

  • In bread machine pan, place first eight ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting.
  • Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed).
  • Just before the final kneading (your machine may audibly signal this), add almonds.
  • Bake in the machine or remove the dough and bake in a regular loaf pan.
