Amish Cinnamon Bread image

Not really sure where I found this recipe but it makes 2 loaves If you do not want the nuts add raisins instead. Very moist and great with butter on it. These are good anytime and your family will enjoy and the kids love it. I know my boys use to like it when they were young, so I thought I would share.

1 c butter, softened
2 c white sugar
2 eggs
2 c buttermilk or 2 cps milk with 2 t vinegar
2 tsp baking soda
4 c flour
1 c chopped walnuts
2/3 c sugar
2 tsp cinnamon

Steps:

  • 1. Cream together butter,2 cps of sugar, and eggs. Add milk,flour,baking soda and nuts. In a separate bowl combine the 2/3 cup sugar and 2 teaspoon of cinnamon and set aside.
  • 2. Grease two loaf pans and pour 1/2 of batter into each pan. Sprinkle 3/4 of cinnamon mixture on each batter, then add remaining batter to each. Then sprinkle the last of cinnamon mixture on top of each loaf pan.
  • 3. Swirl with a knife on top of each loaf. Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes pending on your oven and toothpick comes out clean.
  • 4. Once bread is done cool on wire rack while still in pan, then flip over and let sit till falls out.
