ALMOND BARS image

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup butter
8 oz. almond paste
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1 egg, beaten

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cream butter and almond paste until fluffy and light. Beat in sugar and eggs to combine. Add salt and flour and stir until incorporated. Spread evenly in a lightly greased 9"x13" pan. You may need to spread gently with the back of a spoon or your fingers if it is thick. Brush dough with beaten egg and sprinkle almonds on top. Press gently into dough so they will stick to top. Bake for 40 minutes or until mixture is set and edges brown lightly. (It almost always takes longer than 40 minutes; 50 minutes+ is typical.)
