REAL BELGIAN STIFF DOUGH WAFFLES-NO SUGAR ADDED
These came from a grandmother to one of the girls in our youth group. She was born in Belgium and this is her family recipe - they are rich and lovely. I use splenda now for the recipe as my son is diabetic, but it works with sugar beautifully too. These are the ones you only eat once a year! Great as dessert waffles too!

Steps:
- Melt butter in microwave.
- Combine dry ingredients.
- Beat eggs and water together with mixer, slowly add to dry ingredients.
- When mixed add butter and beat with mixer.
- Dough will be stiff.
- Use Belgian waffle iron - makes 8 waffles.

- In large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar and baking powder. In medium bowl mix eggs, milk, melted butter and vanilla. Add wet into dry ingredients and whisk just until combined (don't over mix). Heat waffle iron and cook according to manufacturers directions. Serve with fruit and whipped cream, or butter and syrup as desired.

- Add sugar and yeast to warm milk. Mix all ingredients together except for egg whites, incorporating the elements in order listed. Let dough rise at least 3 hours. Beat the 8 egg whites until stiff. Gently fold the whites into the mix with a fork. Add 1 / 2 pearl sugar and a pinch of salt. Mix well. Cook as desired in a waffle iron.

- Preheat waffle iron according to manufacture's directions. In a large bowl stir together all dry ingredients. The, add the buttermilk, milk, eggs, and melted butter. Mix together the wet and the dry. REMEMBER THE BATTER WILL LOOK LUMPY! Spray the waffle iron with the nonstick vegetable spray. Pour about a 1/2 cup of the batter onto the waffle iron. Bake until golden brown and delicious.
