- In medium bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Set aside. In large bowl, mix together cereal and buttermilk. Let stand for 5 minutes or until cereal is softened. Add eggs and oil; beat well. Stir in flour mixture until combined. Stir in dates and raisins. Spread batter evenly in 23 cm (9-inch) square baking pan coated with non-stick cooking spray. Bake at 190ºC (375ºF) for 20 to 25 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean. Let cool, cut into bars. Wrap individually in plastic wrap to store. ** To sour milk, add 15 mL (1 tbsp) vinegar.

- Prepare Filling: Mix together and heat to boiling over low heat, stirring continually until thickens (about 10 minutes). Stir in nuts. Grease 13 x 9 x 2 pan. Crumbly mixture: Mix butter, shortening and brown sugar. Stir in flour, salt, baking soda & oats. Press 1/2 crumbly mixture into pan. Spread filling over. Sprinkle with remaining crumbly mixture. Press lightly. Bake at 400 for 25-30 min.

Add eggs and oil. Beat well. Add dates and raisins. Stir in flour mixture, mixing only until combined. Spread batter evenly in 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan coated with cooking spray.3. Bake at 375°F about 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool. Cut into 12 bars. Wrap individually in plastic wrap to store.
