You can substitute 1/4 cup regular lime juice for the key lime juice if you want. You can also prepare the syrup a day ahead and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1 cup club soda
1 cup unsweetened pomegranate juice
2/3 cup vodka
3 tablespoons fresh key lime juice
crushed ice

Steps:

  • Combine sugar and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 2 minutes or just until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat; cool.
  • Combine sugar syrup, club soda, pomegranate juice, vodka and lime juice. Place crushed ice in a martini shaker; add about 3/4 cup pomegranate mixture. Cover and shake. Strain into a glass. Garnish with lime slice, if desired. Repeat procedure with remaining pomegranate mixture.

3 cups ice, or as needed
2 fluid ounces vodka
2 fluid ounces pomegranate juice
1 lime, juiced
½ fluid ounce orange-flavored liqueur (such as Cointreau®)
2 ½ fluid ounces club soda, or as needed
1 teaspoon pomegranate seeds, or to taste

Steps:

  • Fill 2 highball glasses and a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Add vodka, pomegranate juice, lime juice, and orange-flavored liqueur to the cocktail shaker and secure the lid. Place one hand on the lid and one hand on the shaker and shake vigorously for a slow count of 10, or until the outside of the shaker frosts up. Divide cocktail between the prepared glasses.
