The success of these pizza sticks with fully depend on the quality of your pizza dough, may I say that if you are using your homemade pizza dough prepare your dough using vegetable oil in place of olive oil. If you use a large amount of pizza dough then double all ingredients. Yield will depend on how large you cut the dough sticks and the size of prepared dough you use.

1 prepared pizza dough
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 cups powdered sugar
2 -4 tablespoons whipping cream
1 tablespoon melted butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Set oven to 350°F.
  • Roll out the prepared pizza dough into a large rectangle.
  • Brush the melted butter over the dough.
  • In a small cup combine the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon/sugar mixture liberally over the pizza dough.
  • Slice the dough into either long strips, or cut in half and then slice into small sticks (the small ones are easier to handle).
  • Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  • Bake for about 15 minutes or until done.
  • While the pizza sticks are baking, whisk the icing ingredients together until smooth, adding more icing sugar or whipping cream to achieve desired consistency.
  • Dip the pizza sticks in the icing.

  • Soak the wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.

2 teaspoons salt

1/2 recipe Fail-Proof Pizza Dough from above
2 tablespoons softened salted butter
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

  • PIZZA DOUGH: In a large mixing bowl, preferably that of a stand mixer, stir yeast and honey into warm water. Sit for 5 to 10 minutes or until bubbles form and mixture starts to foam. This tells you that the yeast is alive and kicking. Pour in salt, oil and half the flour and mix. Once that flour is incorporated, start adding flour in bit by bit until you get the pizza dough to the consistency you want: slightly tacky, but when you touch it it doesn't stick to your hands. Once you reach this stage, turn the mixer on high to knead for 6 minutes. Turn a timer on and walk away! Resist the temptation to stop earlier than 6 minutes! That seems to be the magical number. The dough should be smooth and easy to work with and the bowl should be clean! Lightly grease the bowl & the dough so it doesn't dry out, cover with plastic wrap and let it rise 1to 2 hours. CHEESY GARLIC BREAD STICKS: Preheat oven to 500°F with pizza stone inside. Mix butter and garlic in a small bowl and set aside. Spread pizza dough out into a 12-inch circle on parchment paper. (This makes it easier to transfer to the pizza stone.) Spread the butter and garlic mixture over dough and top with parmesan and mozzarella cheeses. 1 cup of warm water
2 1/4 tsps of active dry yeast
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsps salt
2 tbsps olive oil
3 cups of bread flour
For garlic breadsticks
Half the dough created from pizza dough recipe
2 tbsps salted butter, softened
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, grated
Salt and pepper for seasoning

Steps:

  • First for the pizza dough. In a large bowl, stir the yeast and sugar into the warm water. Leave it to stand for approximately 10 minutes or until the mix begins to foam.
  • Add to the mixture the salt, olive oil and half of the flour and give it a good mix.
  • Gradually add in the remaining flour and mix it in until you have a dough that is a bit tacky but doesn't stick to your hands.
  • Knead the dough for 6 minutes. Your arms may well start hurting but do persist!
  • When needed, place dough in a greased bowl and cover it. Leave it to rise for between 1-2 hours. It can then be used as and when you need it.
  • Next for the breadsticks. Mix the garlic and butter in a bowl and leave for later.

  • Spread the butter and garlic on top of the dough and then sprinkle on the parmesan and mozzarella. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Bake in an oven pre-heated to 260C for 10 minutes. When removed from the oven leave to cool for 2 minutes. Then cut into thin strips to resemble breadsticks.

I was looking for something quick that my kids would enjoy for lunch. I came across this recipe at the allrecipes website. You could use hamburger, Canadian bacon, any pizza topping you want. I let me kids come in and they helped create their pizza sticks and I did the cooking part. The recipe says to deep fry, but I try to keep the fat content down a bit in the house so we baked them in oven after spraying with a little olive oil cooking spray to add a bit of crispness. Cooking time includes baking time. Only 5 min. cooking time if you are frying.

24 pieces mozzarella string cheese
25 pepperoni slices

  • Lay out the egg roll wrappers one at a time.

40 pepperoni slices
10 mozzarella cheese sticks
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp dried oregano leaves
1 cup marinara sauce, for dipping (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  • 2. Roll pizza dough on a lightly greased baking sheet to form a large rectangle. Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough (width-wise) down the center. Then cut both halves into 5 rows each, so you have 10 equal size dough rectangles.

1 tsp granulated sugar
2 1/2C all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4C Parmesan cheese
2-3C whole milk mozzarella cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Heat water to 115°F, dissolve yeast and sugar. Allow yeast to proof.
  • To the bowl of a stand mixer add flour, salt and garlic powder. With mixer running on low, slowly add yeast mixture. Increase speed and mix until dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Transfer to a lightly greased bowl, cover and allow to rise until doubled in size, roughly 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly grease a baking sheet. Shape dough to desired size and shape.
  • Melt butter with minced garlic. Brush butter and garlic over entire surface of dough. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and mozzarella. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until desired crispness is reached.

With a sharp knife/pizza cutter, slice through the middle of the dough lengthwise. This will divide the rectangle into ttwo thinner rectangles that will measure 4 to 5 inches from top to bottom. 4. Slice the dough from top to bottom into 1.5-inch-wide pieces. You should have somewhere between 20 and 24 dough slices. 5. Place the slices onto a greased cookie sheet about 1/2 inch apart and bake for 3 minutes. You may have to use more than one cookie sheet. This will proof the dough so that it becomes stiff. 6. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan or deep fryer to 350 degrees F. Oil should be at least 1/2 inch deep if using a stovetop pan. You will want to use more oil with a deep fryer. 7. Fry pizza sticks 5 to 6 at a time for about 1 minute per side or until they are a dark golden brown. Remove them from the oil unto a cloth or paper towel to drain. 8. When all the pizza dough sticks are fried, arrange them once again on the cookie sheet(s). You may want to line the cookie sheets with foil to make cleanup easier. Preheat the broiler. 9. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough. 10. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese evenly over the mozzarella. 11. Combine the oregano, basil, caraway seeds, and garlic salt in a small bowl. If your oregano and basil are fairly coarse, grind the spice up a little, making it a finer blend. 12. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the cheese. 13. Broil the pizza sticks for 2 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Serve hot with dipping sauce on the side.

2 soft breadsticks or bagel sticks
2 tablespoons pizza sauce
10 thin slices pepperoni
1 stick string cheese

Steps:

  • Place the breadsticks on their sides on the cutting board. Cut each breadstick lengthwise almost in half (not all the way through), using the sharp knife. Open breadsticks (the top and bottom halves should still be connected on one long side).
  • Spread half (1 tablespoon) of the pizza sauce on the inside of each breadstick, using the table knife.
  • Put 5 slices of pepperoni (or half of the green olives or half of the chicken) on the bottom half of each breadstick. Overlap the pepperoni slices so they fit.
  • Tear the string cheese in half. Put half on one breadstick and the other half on the other breadstick.
  • Close breadsticks. Put breadsticks on the microwavable plate and cover with the microwavable paper towel. Microwave breadsticks on High for 15 to 45 seconds or until warm. Use the pot holders to take plate out of microwave.

Each Applebee's makes an effort to decorate the inside of the restaurant with pictures and memorabilia from the neighborhood in which it is located. You'll see photographs of local heroes and students, license plates, banners, old souvenirs, trinkets, and antiques-all representing area history. Take a look around the walls of the next Applebee's you visit. Maybe you can find something you lost several years ago. Meanwhile, here's a find: pizza sticks that are made from dough that is proofed, fried, and then broiled. The frying adds a unique flavor and texture to the dough that you won't get with traditional pizza. I've designed this recipe to use the premade dough that comes in tubes you know, like the stuff from that dough boy. But you can make this with any dough recipe you might like. Just roll the dough into a 10 x 15-inch rectangle before slicing. These appetizers can be made either in the Parmesan version without meat, or "loaded" with sausage and pepperoni. 1 tomato, chopped
1 tablespoon diced onion
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/8 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon dried basil
1 10-ounce tube instant pizza dough (Pillsbury is good)
2 to 4 cups vegetable oil for frying
1 3/4 cups grated mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated freah Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
3 ounces pepperoni, diced
3 ounces Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Prepare the dipping sauce by combining all of the marinara ingredients in a small, uncovered saucepan, and bringing the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover and simmer the sauce for 1/2 hour. (The sauce can be made ahead and kept, refrigerated, for several days.)
  • Prepare the pizza sticks by first proofing the dough. Unroll the dough onto a cutting board and straighten the edges. prepared pizza dough, or a tube of refrigerated pizza dough
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons whipping cream
1 tablespoon melted butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat pizza oven to 500°.Roll out the prepared pizza dough into a large rectangle. Brush the melted butter over the dough. In a small cup combine the sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle the cinnamon/sugar mixture liberally over the pizza dough. Slice the dough into either long strips, or cut in half and then slice into small sticks (the small ones are easier to handle). Place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake for about 5 - 8 minutes or until golden brown. While the pizza sticks are baking, whisk the icing ingredients together until smooth, adding more icing sugar or whipping cream to achieve desired consistency. Dip or drizzle the pizza sticks with the icing.
