1/2 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sour cream
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives, plus more
1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds, plus more
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 small green cabbage, shredded
1 Asian pear, julienned
1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Mix together buttermilk, mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, 1 tablespoon chives, and 1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds; season with salt and pepper. Toss with cabbage, pear, and onion; season with salt and pepper. Serve slaw topped with more chives and poppy seeds.

1 cup chopped pears, reserved from Pear Strudel
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons apple cider, reserved from Frosty Sparkling Apple Cider
1 teaspoon brown sugar
Kosher salt, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1/2 head green cabbage, shredded, reserved from Round 2 Recipe German Dumpling Soup
1 medium red onion, sliced
1 tablespoon parsley, chopped

Steps:

  • Give the reserved pears a rough chop.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the oil, vinegar, cider, sugar, and salt and pepper, to taste. Add the pear, cabbage, onion, and parsley. Toss everything together, taste, and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

The dressing in this recipe brings the flavors together. .Note: I serve a dish of fresh pomegranate seeds to be passed if guests want a satisfying crunch and color to their salad.

1 bartlett pear, peeled, cored, chopped
1 roma tomato, chopped
1/3 cup minced white onion
2 tablespoons thousand island dressing

Steps:

  • .Add shredded cabbage, ,chopped prepared pear, chopped tomato and minced onion in a serving bowl. Cover and refrigerate.
