2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
1 dash salt
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Toss apples with lemon juice and water in a shallow 2-quart baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, nutmeg, and salt; mix to blend throughly.
  • Cut in butter or margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; mix in walnuts.
  • Crumble over apples to cover completely.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes until top is lightly browned.

6 McIntosh apples, peeled and diced into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 lemon, juiced
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground or freshly grated nutmeg
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 cup flour or fine graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 stick butter
1 pint vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a 9 by 12 baking dish, combine apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar. In a small bowl, mix flour or graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar and butter together using the tines of a fork and your fingers, working until even, small crumbles form. Sprinkle topping evenly over apples and bake 15 to 20 minutes until apples are just tender and topping is golden brown. Top dishes of apple crisp with small scoops of vanilla ice cream. YUM!

1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ cup water
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
¼ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C).

2 pounds Honeycrisp apples

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  • For the filling: Whisk together the brown sugar, flour, apple cider, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a large bowl. Peel and core the apples and cut into chunks. Add the apples to the brown sugar mixture and toss to combine.
