1 ½ cups ketchup
1 cup vinegar
1 cup prepared yellow mustard
½ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
¾ teaspoon chili powder
¾ teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Mix ketchup, vinegar, mustard, sugar, garlic powder, salt, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper together in a bowl until smooth.

This is one of the easiest and tastiest BBQ sauce I have ever made. Great variations below, I really like the liquid smoke flavor added. Posting so I don't loose. From Eating Consciously blog.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup agave nectar (or honey)
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 teaspoon dried chipotle powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Mix ingredients in a bowl.
  • For a spicier sauce - add 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper.
  • For a less spicy sauce - omit the chipotle.
  • For a sweeter sauce - use ketchup instead of tomato sauce.
  • For a less sweet sauce - use only 1/4 cup agave nectar.
  • For a smoky sauce - add a few drops of liquid smoke.
  • For a variation - add some minced garlic, freshly grated ginger, or lime juice.

It looks like ketchup but trust me .. it's not. I ran out of BBQ sauce one day and had to come up with some sort of concoction to put on the ribs that were on the grill. I did a search and nothing sounded right .. so I pulled the best from what I saw and came up with this .. and it is really good sauce !!! Super simple and...

1/4 tsp kosher salt
1/8 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp garlic powder
3/4 c ketchup
1/4 c honey
2-1/2 Tbsp white vinegar
1 Tbsp dark molasses
1 Tbsp light corn syrup
1/2 tsp liquid smoke
optional add-ins
cayenne pepper for heat
finely minced shallots for texture
chopped pineapple for sweetness

Steps:

  • 1. Blend your spices in a small dish.
  • 2. In a 2 cup measuring cup measure out the ketchup and honey and whisk together.
  • 3. Sprinkle the spices over top and whisk well.
  • 4. Add the vinegar, molasses, corn syrup and liquid smoke and whisk together.
  • 5. If you want some any of the add-ins now is the time to put them into the mixture and give them a good whisk to incorporate.
  • 6. Pour into squeeze bottle and refrigerate until ready to use.
