This recipe if from "The Country Cooking Recipe Collection" and is a collection of their Prize Winning Salads. With my garden brimming with huge heads of cabbage this year, I am on the lookout of different ways of using it.

Steps:
- Combine dressing ingredients in saucepan; bring to a boil. Cool.
- Combine the cabbage, onion, peppers and sugar. Let stand until sugar dissolves.
- Pour cooled dressing over cabbage mixture; chill. Coleslaw keeps well in the refrigerator.

Steps:
- In a large bowl, lightly toss cabbage, onion and sugar; refrigerate. In a saucepan, combine dressing ingredients; bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and cool for 1 hour. Pour over cabbage mixture and toss. Chill at least 1 hour before serving. Coleslaw may be stored in the refrigerator for up to 9 days.

- In a large bowl, combine cabbage, onion, bell pepper and 2 cups of sugar. Allow to stand a few minutes until sugar is dissolved. In a small sauce pan, combine vinegar, oil, celery seed, 2 teaspoons sugar and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from stove and allow to cool. Pour over the cabbage mixture, mix well and refrigerate. This slaw will keep well in the refrigerator for nine days, but here's my little secret: It will keep even longer than that in the freezer.
SAUCY LITTLE MEAT LOAVES
My precious little Mother made this when we were growing up in Fair Oaks California. We loved it, the only problem she usually served it with canned peas which we hated and tried to sneak to the dog when no one was looking....LOL Sorry Daddy!! NOT! She was and still is to this day a wonderful cook at the age of 82. God bless...

Steps:
- 1. Combine all of the above ingredients and shape into 6 small loaves
- 2. Place in a baking dish that has been sprayed with pam
- 3. TOPPING 1/3 C Catsup 1 T Brown sugar 1 T prepared mustard
- 4. Combine topping ingredients and spread over the top of each meat loaf
- 5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
- 6. Serve with mashed potatoes and My Granny Helens 9 day slaw. Enjoy

- 1. Combine first 4 ingredients and pour sugar on all. Mix with hands until well covere
- 2. Place next 5 ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil
- 3. Pour over cabbage mixture and cool. Cover and store in refrigerator. You can pray that it lasts 9 days but good luck with that
