1 cup white sugar
1 cup fresh mint leaves

Steps:

  • Combine water, sugar, and mint leaves in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Simmer for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let syrup steep, about 30 minutes.
  • Pour syrup into a sterilized glass jar through a mesh strainer to remove mint leaves; let cool.

2 cups white granulated sugar
2 cups water
2 family sized tea bags
7 cups water (divided)
1 cup simple syrup (you can add more or less to suit your taste)
Ice

Steps:

  • Combine ingredients and heat on medium on the stove until sugar is dissolved. Store in refrigerator. Makes about 3 cups. You can double this or make as much as you like.
  • Bring 4 cups water to boil on stove. Remove and pour over 2 family sized tea bags. Let steep for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove tea bags and add 3 more cups water and 1 cup simple syrup. Pour over ice and enjoy classic sweet tea. Makes 8 cups

6 sprigs fresh mint, plus more for serving

Steps:

  • Heat sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Bring to a boil. Stir in mint. Remove from heat, and let stand 30 minutes. Pour through a fine sieve into an airtight container; discard mint. Let cool completely. Syrup can be refrigerated up to 1 month. Serve with additional mint sprigs, if desired.

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 bunch fresh mint, plus leaves for garnish (optional)
3 black-tea bags
Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • Combine the sugar, mint (stems and all) and 1 cup water in a small pot. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Reduce the heat to medium low and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from the heat, cover and let steep 30 minutes. Discard the mint; refrigerate the syrup until ready to use.
  • Put 2 quarts water in a pot and add the tea bags. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then remove from the heat, cover and let steep 20 minutes. Discard the tea bags. Pour the tea into a pitcher and add the mint syrup to taste. Refrigerate until cool.
  • Serve the tea over ice. Garnish with lemon and mint, if desired.

1-ounce loose black tea
1 quart hot water
1 quart room temperature water
5 cups sugar
3 cups cold water

Steps:

  • Infuse loose tea into hot water for 4 to 5 minutes. Strain tea into room temperature water. Sweeten with simple syrup if desired.
  • For simple syrup, in a small non-reactive pot combine 5 cups of sugar and 3 cups of cold water. Slowly bring to a boil and add 6 sliced lemons and a few sprigs of fresh mint. Remove from heat. Allow to cool 10 minutes and strain.

6 tea bags
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup freshly chopped mint leaves
Ice cubes

Steps:

  • In a pot, boil the water with the tea bags. Once liquid has boiled, remove the pot from heat. Remove tea bags after desired bold/mild flavor.
  • In a small saucepan, add water, sugar and mint and place over medium heat. Bring liquid to a boil then remove from the heat. Allow the syrup mixture to cool. Pour syrup into tea and mix together well. Serve tea over a glass of ice.

4 black tea bags
mint simple syrup
½ cup water
½ cup sugar
¼ cup fresh mint leaf
2 cups sparkling lemonade
12 oz bourbon, optional
ice, for serving

Steps:

  • Make the black tea: In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, remove the pot from the heat and add the tea bags. Steep for 5 minutes, then remove the tea bags. Transfer the tea to the refrigerator and let cool completely.
  • Make the mint simple syrup: In a small saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a simmer, stirring to dissolve the sugar completely. Remove the pot from the heat and add the mint leaves. Steep for 15 minutes, then strain the syrup into a glass jar or liquid measuring cup. Discard the mint leaves. Transfer to the refrigerator and let the syrup cool completely.
  • To assemble, in a large, resealable carafe, combine the black tea, sparkling lemonade, mint simple syrup, and bourbon, if using. Gently swirl the bottle to combine. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • When ready to serve, pour the sweet tea over ice.
  • Enjoy!
