MINNIE'S BARBECUED HAMBURGER ON BUNS ( SLOPPY JOES )
This came from the LDS book "Especially for Mormons." There is a story that goes with it. This high school age girl invited friends over for a party. She asked the housekeeper (!) to fix them something really good for she considered these kids to be the creme de la creme. Well the housekeeper fixed this recipe because she knew the girl liked it so very well. When it came time to eat, the girl became very embarrassed, thinking of giving this plain food to her friends. Well, wouldn't you know, the gang loved this dish and complemented it and the girl over and over! This is another version of a sloppy Joe. I find it to be pretty sweet, but not too sweet. Not being all that familiar with sloppies, I think it is worthy of lots of complements, too. I even call the sandwiches "Sloppy Minnies."

BAND CAMP SLOPPY JOES
When our kids went to band camp, I used to volunteer. A school cook who worked at the camp showed me how to make this recipe. Now I make it for my grandkids and to share at get togethers with our friends. It's great on hot dogs too.

Steps:
- Put ground beef into a large pan.
- Put enough cold water over beef to cover.
- Use you hands or take a fork and stir the meat in the cold water to break it into fine pieces (It looks a mess, but this is a great way to defat the burger).
- Cook the hamburger and water stirring it until it comes to a boil, cook for 3-4 minute.
- Carefully drain the meat into a large colander then return it to the pot.
- Add the onion and cook until onion is clear.
- Add ketchup, brown sugar and pepper.
- Simmer for 20 minutes.
- Serve on buns.
- If you would like to make this ahead to serve later, just put it in the crock pot and set on low.
- (Letting it simmer for a longer time makes it more tasty).
BARBECUED HAMBURGER ( SLOPPY JOES )
Most people call these Sloppy Joes. From Mary Schafer, 1950. Recipe jealously guarded in times past. This is the stuff we grew up with. Use 90% ground beef or brown and drain the beef first. Serve on hamburger buns with dill pickle chips, a must!

BURGER BARBECUE AKA SLOPPY JOES
This is a great sloppy joe recipe. I believe my grandmother gave the recipe to my mother and of course, I now make it. So much better than anything that comes out of a can and really easy--depending on chopping skills, prep time could be more or less
