2 eggs
⅔ cup milk
2 teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
3 slices bread, crumbled
1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
½ cup shredded carrot
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup ketchup
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Whisk eggs, milk, salt, and ground black pepper in a large bowl. Add crumbled bread and stir until dissolved. Mix ground beef, onion, Cheddar cheese, and carrot into bread mixture; transfer mixture to a 9x5-inch loaf pan. Combine brown sugar, ketchup, and mustard in a small bowl; spread over meat mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink in the center, 1 to 1 1/4 hours. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).

1 extra-large egg
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons dry rosemary leaves
1/2 cup finely chopped parsley
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/2 cup ketchup
2 cups canned beef bouillon
1 cup finely chopped celery
1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
3/4 cup grated Cheddar cheese
2 1/2 pounds ground beef (round or sirloin), broken into pieces
1 large sweet red pepper, finely chopped
1 cup dry bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a large bowl, beat the egg lightly. Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, rosemary, parsley, mustard, ketchup and bouillon and mix until well blended. Add the celery, onion and cheese and mix again. Add the ground beef, red pepper and bread crumbs and mix thoroughly.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf approximately 14 inches long and 3 inches high. Slide the loaf onto a jellyroll pan and bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until brown and a crust forms on the outside.
  • Remove from the oven and cut into thick slices.

This is a recipe my dad has been making for years. Great for the cheese and bacon lover-- it's a huge hit with crowds, even kids! And it's a great comfort food!

2 pounds ground beef
2 eggs
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 cup dry bread crumbs
1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 small yellow onion, diced
6 slices bacon
8 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese, cut into quarters
1 tablespoon ketchup

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Combine ground beef, eggs and 2 tablespoons of ketchup in a large bowl. Mix well, then add bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, oregano, basil, pepper, and onion. Set mixture aside. Line the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan with bacon, widthwise. Place half of the meat mixture across the top of the bacon. Lay 3 of the 4 pieces of Cheddar cheese across the center of the meat, lengthwise. Cover the cheese with the second half of the meat mixture and mold the meat into a loaf shape. Pull the ends of the bacon up and around the loaf. Spread 1 tablespoon of ketchup thinly over the loaf.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink in the center, about 60 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Remove from the oven.
  • Cut the final piece of Cheddar cheese into slices and place on top of the meat loaf. Return the meat loaf to the oven and continue baking until the cheese is melted, about 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow the meat loaf to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

1/2 cup whole milk
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup crushed cornflakes
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
3 tablespoons finely chopped celery
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1 cup sour cream
1 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup sliced pimiento-stuffed olives

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first 10 ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. On a large piece of heavy-duty foil, pat beef mixture into a 14x10-in. rectangle. Spread sour cream to within 1/2 in. of edges. Sprinkle with cheese and olives. , Roll up, jelly-roll style, starting with a short side and peeling away foil while rolling. Seal seam and ends. Place seam side down in a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. , Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 65-75 minutes or until meat is no longer pink and a thermometer reads 160°. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.
