This is a swedish cream sauce to serve over meatballs for Swedish Meatballs or hamburger steaks with onions (Pannbiff Med Lok - patties with onions).

1 1/4 cups cream
1 shallot
1 carrot
3 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon beef bouillon (or 1 beef bouillon cube)
1 tablespoon butter
fresh ground pepper

Steps:

  • Peel and dice the shallot and carrot.
  • Melt butter in a sauce pan and saute the vegetables over medium heat until soft.
  • Add the cream, soy sauce, bouillon and pepper. Whisk until the cream sauce is thickened and remove from the heat.
  • Strain the sauce to remove the vegetable particles. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning.
  • Serve over meatballs or patties with onions and/or potatoes.

2 Tbsp flour
2 Tbsp butter
1/2 cup 1/2 half and half
1 cup beef broth or stock (I used beef bullion)
1 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp pepper or a few twists of fresh pepper
1/4 tsp Paprika (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat Butter in small sauce pan. Add flour and cook stirring constantly for about 2 minutes. Add 1 cup beef broth or stock, 1 tsp soy sauce, half and half, salt, pepper and paprika. Simmer on med heat, stirring until slightly thickened. Mix sauce with meatballs, serve with mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce (from IKEA).

1/4 pint beef stock
1/2 tablespoon soy sauce, to taste
1 tablespoon white flour
1 tablespoon water
salt
white pepper

Steps:

  • Swirl out the pan with boiling beef stock.
  • Add the cream.
  • Add the flour mixed with approx 1 tablepoons of water.
  • Add the seasonings.
  • Simmer until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve with Swedish meatballs.
