This will cook merrily away while you go shopping or take a nap. It's also good if you have the flu and can't face the kitchen.

1 lb lean hamburger
2 large carrots, sliced lengthwise and cut into chunks
1 celery rib, sliced
1 can tomato soup
1/2 can water
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon celery seed
2 medium potatoes, cut into chunks
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 can green beans
1 (6 ounce) can mushrooms

Steps:

  • Grease a casserole dish.
  • Put into it crumbled burger, carrots, celery, soup, water, spices, potatoes, onion, green beans and mushrooms.
  • Cover and bake at 275 degrees for 4 hours, adding a litle more water if necessary.

2 lbs beef stew meat
1 (10 ounce) can cream of celery soup
1 (10 ounce) can condensed golden mushroom soup
2 (10 ounce) cans water
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
2 cups diced potatoes
1 cup diced carrot

Steps:

  • Mix all but vegetables in deep casserole.
  • Bake at 300 degrees for 3 hours.
  • Add carrots after 1 hour.
  • Add potatoes after 2 hours.
  • Add more water if needed.
  • I have also just put all ingredients into a crock pot on low all day.

1-1/2 pounds beef stew meat
1-1/2 pounds potatoes (about 3 medium), peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) beef broth
2-1/2 cups fresh baby carrots (about 12 ounces)
1 large tomato, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons taco seasoning
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water

Steps:

  • In a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker, combine the first ten ingredients. Cook, covered, on low 7-9 hours or until beef and vegetables are tender., In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth; gradually stir into stew. Cook, covered, on high 30-45 minutes longer or until stew is slightly thickened.

2 lbs beef stew meat
6 carrots, cut into pieces
4 potatoes, cut up
4 celery sticks, cut into pieces
2 onions, sliced
1 tbs salt
1 tbs sugar
16 oz tomato juice or V8

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients is pot. Cover and put in oven at 250 for 4-5 hours.

2 lb. Beef cubes
2 c. carrots, sliced
2 c. potatoes, diced
2 medium onions, chopped
1 c. celery, chopped
1 1/2 c. green beans
2 tsp. quick cooking tapioca
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 8-oz. can tomato sauce
1 c. water
1 tbsp. brown sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Place raw beef cubes (do not brown) in a single layer in a 2 1/2 quart crock pot (or casserole dish). 2. Add vegetables and/or any others you desire. 3. Sprinkle tapioca, salt, and pepper over top. Pour tomato sauce mixed with water over vegetables and seasonings. 4. Crumble brown sugar over all. 5. Cover tightly and do not peek! 6. Cook in crock pot on high for 5-6 hours (or casserole in the oven at 325 F for 3 hours).
