HOMEMADE KING HAWAIIAN ROLLS OR LOAF

Homemade King Hawaiian Rolls or Loaf image

As far as homemade bread goes, this is fairly easy to make. The results are unlike any other bread we've made. It is sweet and rich in flavor. If you make rolls, they're buttery, light, and fluffy. A loaf will make the perfect grilled cheese or french toast. We could not stop snacking on this.

Time 2h30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 c all-purpose flour, divided in half; plus an additional 1/2 cup flour
3 large eggs
2 c pineapple juice, room temperature
3/4 c sugar or Splenda
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 pkg yeast (.25 oz each)
1/2 c butter, melted (8 Tbsp)

Steps:

  • 1. In a small bowl beat your eggs.
  • 2. Add the pineapple juice, sugar, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix well.
  • 3. Put 3 cups of flour into a large bowl.
  • 4. Stir in your egg mixture until well combined.
  • 5. Sprinkle in the yeast packets, one at a time, mixing well.
  • 6. Add the remaining 3 cups of flour and mix well. If it becomes to difficult to stir with a wooden spoon, just use your hands! Make sure all of the flour is well incorporated.
  • 7. The dough should be tacky to the touch but not overly sticky. If it appears too wet, sprinkle in a bit of extra flour. Just a tablespoon or so at a time.
  • 8. Cover your bowl with a clean kitchen towel. Set it in a warm place to rise for 1 hour.
  • 9. Remove your dough from the bowl and knead in an additional 1/2 cup of flour. I kneaded mine 10 to 15 times, making sure the flour was well incorporated.
  • 10. Form the dough into rolls or loaf and place in buttered pans.
  • 11. Cover and place in a warm place to rise until the dough doubles in size. If making rolls, let rise for 1 hour. For loaves, let rise for 90 minutes.
  • 12. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 13. Brush tops with melted butter. Serve warm.

BREAD MACHINE RECIPE FOR KINGS HAWAIIAN BREAD

Bread Machine Recipe for Kings Hawaiian Bread image

Thanks for all of the feed back, I made this this today after converting it from weights, to standard measurements and it tasted good, but was just a little dense. So I increased the yeast by 1/2 tsp. I hope you enjoy this recipe.

Categories     Sweet Breads

Time 3h30m

Number Of Ingredients 11

3/4 c water, warm
1 large egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 Tbsp butter, melted
6 1/2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 1/2 tsp instant yeast
1/3 c instant potato flakes, dry
1/3 c powdered milk
3 c bread flour
4 tsp vital wheat gluten

Steps:

  • 1. This is a very straight forward process. Add all of the liquids into your bread machine first, then the solids.
  • 2. Because this recipe has egg as an ingredient, do not put your machine on a delay timer, start the machine on the sweet bread cycle right after you have all of the ingredients in the bread machine.
  • 3. This bread has sugar in it, so when it's done baking, remove the bread from the machine. If your machine has a keep warm cycle at the end, it may get your bread overly browned.
  • 4. After removing the bread from the machine, let it cool on a rack for a while before cutting. Enjoy !

KING'S HAWAIIAN BREAD (COPYCAT)

King's Hawaiian Bread (Copycat) image

We absolutely love this bread. My sister won't buy anything but. It's kinda expensive so when I came across this, I had to add it here so we (Mom, Chris, and I) could always have it and everyone else could enjoy it too. The first time I ever had it, it was with the Spinach Veggie dip...OMGOSH it was DEEEVINE! So...next time you don't wanna spend the money, whip it up yourself! It does take a while...but so worth it!
