6 slice day old bread-broken into small pieces
2 c whole milk or cream for richer mixture
1 c sugar
3 eggs slightly beaten
1 Tbsp flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 Tbsp melted butter or margarine
BOURBON SAUCE
1 c water
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1/2 c brown sugar
1/4 stick butter or margarine
2 Tbsp kentucky bourbon
KENTUCKY BREAD PUDDING WITH BOURBON SAUCE

Steps:

  • 1. KENTUCKY BREAD PUDDING: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place bread pieces in a large mixing bowl. Place milk over bread and let soak for about 10 minutes. Add all remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into a greased two quart baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees or until top is goldlen brown. Serve with warm Bourbon Sauce. Six servings.
  • 2. BOURBON SAUCE: Place water in saucepan, add cornstarch,stir until blended. Add all other ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring often until blended. Spoon warm sauce over servings of bread pudding.

once again this is a recipe from my days at the Marriott, it is a kentucky favorite that I added my own touches too, hope you all will enjoy.

2 lb bread
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 Tbsp nutmeg
2 stick vanilla bean
1/2 c kentucky bourbon
12 egg yolks
1 qt heavy cream
1 box raisins
1 c graulated sugar

Steps:

  • 1. First combined egg yolks and sugar in a large bowl, whip until thick and light. next scald milk and vanilla bean, and bourbon.over direct heat. next very gradually pour scalded cream into egg mixture while stirring constantly with whip.set the bowl aside to cool down.
  • 2. Next cut bread into small pieces place in bowl with cinnamon, nutmeg,raisins, toss together than place into greased ramekins, pour cream' anglaise over the bread. than bake in oven at 345 for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • 3. to make sure they are done place toothpick in middle til it comes out clean, than sit aside until cool. place the ramekin unside down on plate, and garnish the way you like.
