This easy spread is based on several different relishes and spreads I've tasted or made before. I love the sweet and spicy combination of flavors. -Diane Nemitz, Ludington, Michigan

Yield 2 cups.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
4 teaspoons chopped seeded jalapeno pepper
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
1/4 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
1 package (8 ounces) reduced-fat cream cheese
Assorted crackers or sliced sweet yellow and orange peppers

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the first 7 ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; cool completely., In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Beat in cranberry mixture until blended. Serve with crackers or sliced peppers.

I serve this for New Years Eve appetizer. It always goes over very well.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb. cream cheese, softened
4 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate
zest of 1 orange
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup dried cranberries, chopped
1 or 2 jalapenos, seeded, chopped fine
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Cook the cranberries in 1/2 cup of water in microwave for 1 minute, drain and cool.
  • 2. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, orange juice concentrate, zest and cinnamon on medium speed until fluffy. Add chopped cranberries, jalapeno, and walnuts. Stir into cheese mixture. Chill. Shape into a ball.
  • 3. Serve with favorite crackers.
