PAN-FRIED HONEY-GARLIC FROZEN SALMON

Pan-Fried Honey-Garlic Frozen Salmon image

Surprise--you don't need to thaw those frozen salmon fillets from the supermarket before cooking them. That's right: Simply add the fish to a preheated skillet and cook away, then make a simple sweet and savory sauce from garlic, honey, soy sauce and rice wine vinegar for drizzling. Trust us, this recipe will convince even non-seafood lovers that salmon is their new favorite dish.

Time 20m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

Four 4- to 5-ounce frozen skin-on salmon fillets
2 tablespoons olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
3 cloves garlic
1/3 cup honey
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar

Steps:

  • Rinse the salmon under cool water and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place the salmon skin-side up in the skillet, leaving room in between. Cook until the salmon is browned on the first side, about 4 minutes.
  • Flip the salmon with a spatula and season with salt and pepper. Reduce the heat to medium, cover and cook until the salmon is opaque throughout and flakes easily when you insert a paring knife between the layers, 7 to 9 minutes. Transfer the salmon to a plate.
  • Reduce the heat to low. Add the garlic to the skillet and cook, stirring, until golden brown, about 30 seconds. Add the honey, soy sauce and vinegar and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Return the salmon to the skillet and turn to coat in the sauce. Serve the salmon drizzled with the sauce.

HONEY GARLIC SALMON WITH BRUSSEL SPROUTS

Honey Garlic Salmon With Brussel Sprouts image

Provided by David Hawkins

Categories     Healthy

Time 25m

Yield 4 , 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 (2 lb) salmon fillets
1 lb Brussels sprout
4 garlic cloves
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 lemon
1 tablespoon basil leaves
1 teaspoon oregano
1 tablespoon chives

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or foil. Make sure your brussels sprouts are in small pieces so they roast quickly! I like to remove the stems from mine and cut them into quarters.
  • mince or grate garlic.
  • cut lemon into wedges to serve.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the garlic, soy sauce and honey. Place the salmon filet in the center of the sheet.
  • Place the brussels in the bowl and toss them with half of the honey garlic mixture. Spread the brussels around the salmon. Brush the remaining honey garlic mixture over the salmon. It's okay if you have some left - you can use it to brush on once the salmon is finished! I like to add some freshly cracked pepper on top t00.
  • Roast the salmon and brussels for 15 minutes, until the salmon easily flakes with a fork and the brussels begin to caramelize. Remove and slice the salmon into pieces. Serve immediately with a sprinkling of herbs, a spritz of lemon and extra sauce!

HONEY MISO GARLIC SALMON

HONEY MISO GARLIC SALMON image

Categories     Fish     Soy     Bake     Quick & Easy

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 side of Salmon filet
miso paste *
garlic cloves
honey
white wine, beer or water
miso paste is available in Asian food supermarkets. You can use golden or brown miso paste for this recipe.

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 425. Cover a cookie sheet with tin foil or parchment paper (for easy clean-up). In a small bowl, combine equal parts of miso and honey (about 2 tablespoons each to start with) and 2 cloves of garlic. Add a couple of dashes of white wine, beer or water to achieve desired consistency. The consistency of this sauce should be a little thicker than honey. Stir together & taste. You should taste a balance between the saltiness of the miso, the garlic flavor and the sweetness of honey. Add any of the ingredients to the miso sauce to achieve the balance you need. Sauce is intended to cover the filet, so if your filet is larger, you may need to mix more sauce. Rinse your salmon filet and place skin side down on covered cookie sheet. Pour and spread sauce over filet to coat evenly. Place in preheated oven for 20-30 minutes to cook. Fish is fully cooked when you stick a fork in and it flakes easily. Serve with steamed rice and a stir fry vegetable (asparagus, broccoli, bok choy, zucchini).

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 tablespoons reduced-sodium tamari or reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1 large clove garlic, grated
1¼ pounds center-cut salmon fillet, preferably wild, skin removed, cut into 4 portions
¼ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro

  • Stir tamari (or soy sauce), lime juice, honey, sesame oil and garlic together in a small bowl. Place salmon pieces and 3 tablespoons of the tamari mixture in a large sealable plastic bag. (Reserve remaining tamari mixture for sauce). Marinate the salmon in the refrigerator, turning frequently, for 20 minutes. Preheat broiler to high and position rack in the upper third of oven. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil and coat the foil with cooking spray. Remove the salmon from the bag and transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle any remaining marinade from the bag over the salmon and then sprinkle with salt. Broil until the salmon is just cooked through, 5 to 8 minutes, depending on thickness.
