Easy homemade spaghetti sauce, using ingredients you probably already have in your pantry! This recipe is a family dinner staple!

1 pound ground beef ((or 1/2 lb ground Italian sausage and 1/2 lb ground beef))
salt and freshly ground black pepper (, to taste)
1 medium onion (, chopped)
15 ounces tomato sauce
6 ounces tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 Tablespoon dried parsley flakes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
crushed red pepper flakes (, to taste)
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
1 cup water
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves ((optional))
spaghetti noodles (, for serving)

Steps:

  • Season ground beef with salt and pepper.
  • In a large skillet, add the beef and chopped onion and brown. Drain excess grease.
  • Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, parsley, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, worcestershire, and sugar to the skillet.
  • Stir well to combine and bring to a boil. Add water and stir well.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Add chopped basil before serving, if desired.
  • This sauce tastes great in Spaghetti Pie, Million Dollar Spaghetti, Slow Cooker Lasagna and Instant Pot Spaghetti.

3 Italian turkey sausage links (4 ounces each), casings removed
1 can (29 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
3 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
1/2 cup minced fresh parsley
5 to 6 garlic cloves, minced
3 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt

6 cups hot cooked spaghetti
Shredded Parmesan cheese, optional

  • In a Dutch oven, combine the celery, onion, green pepper and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil. 2 pounds plum tomatoes, chopped (about 5 cups)

1 -2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
5 green onions, chopped
2 -3 garlic cloves, chopped (I prefer more)
1 tablespoon italian seasoning
1 tablespoon pizza seasoning
1 teaspoon basil
8 -10 medium tomatoes
1 -2 banana pepper, chopped into small pieces
1 (5 ounce) can tomato paste (to thicken)
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt (to taste)
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Place tomatos in large pot cover with water. Bring water to boil and boil approximatley 5 minutes. Immediately remove from heat and place in ice bath.
