This is a quick and very delicious way to make breadsticks. You can also mix in onions and herbs to give it more flare, but I like them this way. You can also get creative and roll out 24 individual strings of dough and twist two together at a time to make garlic twists.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons Splenda sugar substitute
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2/3 cup milk
3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine, melted
1/2 teaspoon parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Combine flour, Splenda, baking powder, salt, ½ tsp garlic powder and gradually add milk to form the soft dough.
  • Flour a flat surface and knead the dough gently 4-5 times.
  • Roll with a rolling pin into a rectangle about 10″ x 5″ and cut into 12 breadsticks.
  • Mix melted butter with the remaining garlic powder and parmesan cheese in a large bowl or dish and dip the breadsticks and coat well with the butter mixture.
  • Sprinkle with more grated parmesan if you like.
  • Bake at 450°F for 15 minutes.
  • Remove and brush on with any remaining butter.

2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. dry active yeast
3/4 to 1 cup lukewarm water
1 TBS olive oil
4 TBS salted butter
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
2 cups Italian shredded cheese blend
1/2 to 1 TBS parmesan cheese
Parsley for garnish
warm pizza sauce for dipping (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Whisk together flour, garlic salt, sugar, yeast and slowly add in water. 2. Mix together until dough is created. 3. Using your hands knead for one minute and from a ball. 4. Spread 1 TBS olive oil in a separate bowl and transfer pizza dough to that bowl. 5. Roll our dough. 6. Add butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning to a small bowl and microwave until melted. Whisk together, then brush on dough. 7. Next sprinkle dough with shredded cheese, then parmesan cheese. Last sprinkle with parsley. 8. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes on lowest oven rack until cheese is bubbly and crust is browned. 9. Remove from oven, cut into 1 inch wide strips.
