Homemade Hamburger Helper Chili Mac is healthier and only requires ground beef, macaroni, tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili seasoning, milk, and water.

1 pound ground beef
2 tablespoons chili seasoning
1 tablespoon corn starch
1 can diced tomatoes (with peppers onions, and celery (14.5 ounces))
1 can tomato sauce (8 ounces)
1 3/4 cups water
1/4 cup milk
2 1/2 cups macaroni
1/4-1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix chili seasoning and corn starch in a small bowl; set aside.
  • Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat stirring occasionally, 8-10 minutes. Drain if necessary.
  • Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, milk, and seasoning mixture; stir until combined.
  • Add macaroni and bring to a boil. Lower heat to simmer. Cover and cook 13-16 minutes or until macaroni is tender, stirring occasionally. Let sit 5 minutes before serving.

1 pound ground beef
2 tablespoons chili sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
4 hamburger-size pretzel buns or hamburger buns, split
1/2 cup nacho cheese sauce, warmed

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine beef, chili sauce and chili powder, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Shape into eight 1/4-in.-thick patties. Place 2 tablespoons cheese onto the center of each of four patties. Top with remaining patties; press edges firmly to seal., Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from heat 4-6 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160°. Serve on buns with cheese sauce.
