This is the best chicken slow cooker recipe ever, and I've tried a lot of them. I can't remember where I originally got it from; my version has been tweaked a little. I don't like mushrooms, but the mushrooms in the condensed soup are really big and easy to take out. Serve over hot cooked rice.

1 (.7 ounce) package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed golden mushroom soup
1 (8 ounce) container chive and onion cream cheese
½ cup dry white wine
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

Steps:

  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, and stir in the salad dressing mix, mushroom soup, cream cheese, and wine until the sauce mixture is hot, smooth and well combined. Place the chicken breasts into the bottom of a slow cooker, and pour the sauce mixture over the chicken. Cover and cook on Low setting until chicken is tender, about 4 hours.

HEAVENLY "CHICKEN" (FRICHIK) CASSEROLE

A great vegetarian comfort food that also makes a great holiday dish. This recipe is a favorite among many that have discovered the deliciously tasting Worthington FriChik. You can also use real chicken, mayonnaise, milk and even add some cheese if you're not vegetarian. Before becoming vegetarian I made a casserole very similar to this one regularly. I got this recipe from a good friend that got it from another friend's cookbook. Worthington FriChik has egg white in the ingredients and there is cream in the mushroom soup, so its not vegan. I've been trying to use as little dairy as possible so I use soy milk and vegenaise (the yummiest soy mayonnaise).

1 cup celery, diced
1/2 cup onion, diced
2 cups cooked brown rice
2 cups vegetarian chicken substitute, diced (Use Worthington FriChik & include the gravy it comes in!!!)
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can mushroom soup
1 (14 ounce) can mushrooms
1/3 cup soymilk
1/2 cup soy mayonnaise (I use Vegenaise. A friend of mine uses sour cream instead and of course it tastes great that way too)
1/2 teaspoon salt
paprika, for topping
sliced almonds, for topping

Steps:

  • Saute celery and onion in a very small amount of oil or water.
  • Put into mixing bowl and add remaining ingredients, mixing well.
  • Sprinkle top with paprika and sliced almonds.
  • Put in oiled casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees F about 45 minutes. (The 1 1/2 passive work time listed includes the time to cook the two cups of brown rice ahead).

Traditionally this dish is made with calves livers but these are quite hard to get in New Zealand. I love this dish because its super easy and super cheap! It goes particularly well with a side dish of mash potatoes or parsnips!

350 g chicken livers
200 g bacon
1 onion
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon garlic
flour, for coating livers
salt and pepper for seasoning

Steps:

  • Dice up onions and bacon and start them simmering in butter and garlic in a small pan. Leave this on a low heat until the onions become translucent and start becoming sweet.
  • While all that is on the stove, chop up your livers and prepare a flour batter seasoned with salt and pepper. Get a thick bottom pan and let it get very hot. Flour up your meat and drop it in in batches. Keep it turning so it browns on all sides but only keep it in for around 1-2min. The inside of the meat should still be lovely and soft when you bite into it. You do NOT want to overcook livers, they have a beautiful flavor on their own.
  • Serve with a side of mash potatoes and parsnips and you've got a lovely meal!

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 pounds cooked and chopped chicken breast
½ bunch celery, chopped
1 pound red seedless grapes, halved
1 cup toasted slivered almonds
1 cup mayonnaise
½ (8 ounce) jar Major Grey's chutney
½ teaspoon curry powder
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Toss the water chestnuts with the lemon juice in a large bowl. Add the chicken, celery, grapes, and almonds to the water chestnuts. Stir the mayonnaise, chutney, curry powder, and salt together in a separate bowl. Fold the chicken mixture into the mayonnaise mixture; stir to coat evenly. approx. 1 . 5 - 2 pounds skinless chicken breast
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce (you can use gluten free)
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1 large onion
2 small bunch broccoli (@ 4 cups)
2 teaspoons minced garlic
3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons cornstarch

Steps:

  • spray your crock-pot with cooking spray and turn it on low (if you want recipe to cook for 4-5 hours) or high (if you want recipe to cook in 3 hours). Cube your onion and chicken breasts into approximately 2-inch pieces. Place onion and chicken in crock-pot.
  • whisk soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, pepper, and ginger in a bowl. Pour over the chicken and onion and give it all a stir. Put on lid and leave it (low 4-5 hrs / high 3 hrs).
  • once it is cooked, move chicken and onions with a slotted spoon to a bowl, Pour the liquid from the crock-pot into a sauce pan on medium heat. Whisk in 1 tbsp of the cornstarch at a time and bring sauce to a low boil. Keep whisking about a minute until sauce thickens.
  • put chicken mix back in crock-pot and pour sauce over meat and onions. Turn crock-pot to low or warm and cover. Steam your broccoli (5 min in microwave; 10 min on stove). Add broccoli and stir to coat.
  • serve over rice or rice noodles; garnish with chives or sesame seeds (optional).

1 whole cut up chicken
4 - 5 carrots, cut into pieces approximately 4 inches long
4 - 5 celery stalks, cut into pieces approximately 4 inches long
1 whole onion (only remove most outer skin) (do not cut! it goes into the pot whole!)
1 or 2 whole cloves garlic
1 whole tomato (do not cut! it goes into the pot whole!)
1 whole potato (do not cut! it goes into the pot whole!)
1 core of cabbage (set aside outer leaves. use core only)
1/2 to 3/4 parsley root or parsnip cut into large pieces
1 whole green pepper (do not cut! it goes into the pot whole!)
1 bunch of parsley tied together w/white thread
1 Tbsp tablespooon whole black pepper corns
salt to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Cover chicken in very large stock pot with water. Slowly bring to a simmer. Remove scum from top. DO NOT ALLOW IT TO BOIL!
  • 2. When it begins to simmer and all the scum is removed, add the vegetables, approximately 1 tablespoon of whole black pepper and salt.
  • 3. Simmer, being careful not to boil, until the chicken and carrots are tender.
  • 4. Allow everything to cool. Remove everything from the broth. Set chicken aside. Remove a few pieces of carrot to garnish the soup if you'd like. Squeeze juices from any remaining vegetables through a fine sieve back into the broth. Discard what is left of the vegetables.
  • 5. Broth can be served with any kind of small noodles and parsley sprinkled on top. Crushed red pepper is also good if you like it hot/spicy.
  • 6. I added a small amount of shredded chicken back into the broth. The rest of the chicken makes a good chicken salad, chicken casserole, etc.

I have a horror of dry chicken breasts, even though I know white meat is healthier for one. So I was happy to find a flavorful, moist casserole that is also easy to make ahead and freeze. I use skim milk and light ham to help reduce calories, but you can use whatever is on hand. From "Once-a-Month Cooking" by Mimi Wilson and Mary Beth Lagerborg; I doubled their white sauce ingredients and spinach to make it extra moist.

1/2 cup scallion, sliced
4 tablespoons butter or 4 tablespoons margarine
4 tablespoons flour

2 broilers, cut in 1/8ths
1 cup Italian Salad Dressing
9 ounce jar apricot jam
1 package dry onion soup mix

Steps:

  • Place chicken pieces in a large roasting pan. Steel knife: Combine remaining ingredients and process for a few seconds, until blended. Pour over chicken. (May be marinated for several hours at room temperature or overnight in the refrigerator. Turn once.) Bake uncovered at 350°F for about 2 hours, until nicely browned. Baste occasionally. Serve with rice. Variations: Follow recipe above, using the following salad dressings and jams: Italian Salad Dressing and peach or pineapple jam Thousand Island Dressing and apricot jam Sweet and Spicy French Dressing or bottled Catalina Dressing and peach or apricot jam Vinaigrette Dressing or Herb Dressing and ½ cup orange marmalade plus ½ cup peach jam. Any bottled low calorie dressing and diet jam

This is my favorite Chicken dish. I love it, not only is it tasty it's easy to prepare. It also reheats in a low oven, covered. In addition, everyone I've made it for loves it too.

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 to 6 chicken breasts, pounded
2 Tbsp oil
1 1/2 c sour cream
1 tsp salt
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1 1/2 c stovetop, unmade, crushed fine
3 Tbsp butter, more if you like
1 tsp garlic powder, more if you like
1/2 tsp italian seasoning, more if you like

Steps:

  • 1. Pre-heat oven to 350* Line a rimmed cookie sheet with aluminum foil, then spray oil over the foil,
  • 2. In a large zip lock bag, stir together Sour cream, Salt, Onion Power, Garlic Powder, Italian Seasoning and Paprika. Add the pounded Chicken to this mixture and squish so all sides are fully coated
  • 3. Place the Stove Top crumbs in a large platter and dredge each chicken piece on all sides. Place Chicken on prepared cookie sheet and drizzle with melted butter.
  • 4. Bake at 350* uncovered for approximately 20 minutes or until chicken is done (reaching a temperature of 165*)

Looking for a way to prepare chicken breasts? This Cream Cheese Chicken features a sauce of Vermouth, cream cheese, and garlic, so tasty, and oh so easy to make.

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup dry vermouth
1 teaspoon garlic powder
6 ounces cream cheese (softened)
1/2 cup sliced green onions (for garnish)

Steps:

  • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  • Melt the butter in a heavy skillet.
  • Add the chicken breasts and brown them on each side until just barely done, 8 to 10 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  • Pour the dry vermouth into the same skillet and stir, deglazing the pan by scraping up any browned bits. Simmer for 3 minutes.
  • Add the garlic powder and whisk in the softened cream cheese. The sauce should be the consistency of heavy cream. Add a little chicken stock or milk if it's too thick.
  • Return the chicken with any accumulated juices to the pan. Check for seasoning.
  • To serve, spoon some sauce over the chicken and garnish with green onions. Serve with extra sauce on the side.
