Steps:
- Heat oven to 400°F. In large bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter, using pastry blender or fork, until mixture looks like fine crumbs. Stir in egg and half-and-half until soft dough forms. Stir in pear and pecans.
- On ungreased cookie sheet, drop dough by slightly rounded 1/3 cupfuls.
- Bake 16 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Serve warm.

- Heat oven to 375°F. Spray bottom and sides of 9x5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
- In large bowl, mix 2 1/4 cups flour, the granulated sugar, baking powder and salt. In medium bowl, beat buttermilk, 6 tablespoons butter, the vanilla, lemon peel, gingerroot and eggs with wire whisk until well blended. Stir into flour mixture until blended. Stir in pears and hazelnuts. Spread batter in pan.
- In medium bowl, mix brown sugar and 1/4 cup butter until blended. Stir in 2/3 cup flour; pinch with fingers until clumps form. Sprinkle topping over batter.
- Bake 1 hour to 1 hour 5 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, covering with foil during last 25 minutes to prevent overbrowning, if necessary. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 2 hours. In small bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk until thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle over loaf. Let stand 10 minutes.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda into a large bowl.
- Add butter; rub in with fingertips until mixture resembles coarse meal.
- Stir in nuts.
- Whisk milk, sour cream, egg and vanilla in medium bowl; set aside 1 1/2 Tbsp for glaze.
- Make well in center of dry ingredients; add remaining milk mixture.
- Stir just until dough forms.
- Let stand for 3 minutes.
- Turn out onto floured surface.
- Using floured hands, knead gently until dough comes together.
- Pat into 7 1/2-inch round.
- Using sharp knife, cut into 8 wedges; brush with glaze.
- Sprinkle with sugar. Transfer wedges to baking sheet spacing apart.
- Bake scones until golden and crusty for about 20 minutes.
- Transfer to wire rack and cool slightly. Serve warm.
