Want to ensure juicy great tasting burgers for barbecuing? Try this! This is a basic recipe, actually more of a technique. Season with the rub to kick it up, or use your own. From Woman's Day magazine, they say to feed your friends and you'll get a reputation for the best burgers in town.

Yield 5 1/4 pound patties

Number Of Ingredients 12

3/4 lb ground sirloin
1/2 lb ground chuck
3 tablespoons crushed ice
seasoning, : (The Only Rub You'll Ever Need)
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon oregano
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon paprika
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

Steps:

  • Combine sirloin with the ground chuck and crushed ice.
  • Divide into 5 quarter pound patties, sprinkle with rub if desired, and grill to your liking.
  • The sirloin makes them lower in fat, the chuck gives them more flavor and the ice keeps them moist.
  • To make the rub combine seasonings and place in a jar. Use to sprinkle on chicken, fish, pork or beef before grilling.
  • Makes about 2/3 cup and seasons about 4 pounds of meat. Enjoy!

These are super good burgers. I've made burgers like this for the past year, using salt and pepper instead of McCormick's.. I discovered McCormick's and tried it... Boy did it make a difference.... We usually eat these burgers with potato salad and baked beans...

1 1/2 lbs ground round (lean)
3 tablespoons fine dry breadcrumbs
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons onions (grated)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons hamburger seasoning (I use McCormick)
tomatoes, sliced (optional)
pickle, sliced (optional)
onion, sliced (optional)
lettuce (optional)
cheese, sliced (optional)
condiments, as desired

Steps:

  • Prepare your grill.
  • Combine the first 7 ingredients into a large bowl.
  • Pat out your burgers to desired size and thickness.
  • Place on a lightly oiled grill and grill on each side for 5-7 minutes or until done.
  • If topping with cheese, place cheese on burger as soon as it is taken off the grill.
  • Serve on your choice of buns with your choice of toppings.

1/2 teaspoon hot pepper flakes
1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or 1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt, to taste
4 slices lemon zest
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup fresh dill (or a mix of all four) or 1/4 cup fresh oregano (or a mix of all four)
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

Steps:

  • Combine the lemon juice, hot pepper flakes, cracked pepper, and salt in a nonreactive (glass, ceramic, or stainless steel) bowl and whisk until the salt crystals are dissolved.
  • Add the lemon zest, garlic, parsley, and basil.
  • Stir or whisk in the olive oil.
  • The virtue of this marinade is its freshness; use it within 1 to 2 hours of making.
  • Stir again before using.
